The Crisis of Malnutrition Threatening Mothers and Children

Malnutrition Mission

SIRANA Global is a dedicated organization fighting malnutrition. Malnutrition causes irreversible physical and cognitive damage, trapping families in cycles of poverty. We provide nutritional education, supplements, and health checkups for expectant mothers to ensure healthy development and reduce the “double burden” of undernutrition and rising obesity.

Carrier Rates of Malnutrition in Pakistan

According to the global-hunger-index researches:

  • In Pakistan 33.6% of children under the age of 5 are suffering from chronic malnutrition and 10.0% are suffering from acute malnutrition.

According to the emro  researches:

  • Around 43,000 severely malnourished children are treated annually by WHO-supported stabilization centers in Pakistan.

Carrier Rates of Malnutrition in Bangladesh

According to the 2025 IPC individuals suffering from acute malnutrition annually are

  • Approximately 1.6 million children are suffering or expected to suffer from acute malnutrition, 143,850 children are suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition and 1.4 million children are suffering from Moderate Acute Malnutrition.

According to the UNICEF researches

  • India continues to have a very high number of undernourished people approximately 172 million Indians were undernourished in 2024

According to the  global-hunger-index researches

  • Around 18.7 % of Indian children under age-5 were wasted in recent estimates and approximately 32.9 % of under-5 children in India are stunted.

Carrier Rates of Malnutrition in Nepal

ccording to the UNICEF researches

  • Undernutrition contributes to about 25,000 child deaths per year in Nepal
  • 43 % of Nepali children under age 5 are affected by malnutrition annually.
  • Periodic nutrition surveys show acute malnutrition (wasting) affects around 8 %–12 % of young children annually.
